These terms cover the free tools on apps.wield.io: the Merchant Center Fix storefront checker, the QuickBooks Sync Check self-check, any other free check or scanner we publish here, and our early-access lists.
They are an agreement between you and Wield, LLC, registered in New Hampshire, USA (“Wield”, “we”). By using a tool or joining a list, you accept them. If you don’t accept them, please don’t use the tools.
The tools are for business use, and you must be at least 18 to use them. If you use them for a company or a client, you confirm that you can accept these terms on their behalf.
Paid apps are not covered here. They will have their own terms when they launch.
Free and “as is”
The tools are free for now. We may change, limit, withdraw or start charging for any of them at any time.
The tools and their results are provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we give no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including that they are accurate, complete, fit for a particular purpose, uninterrupted or free of errors.
Results are automated and informational
Results are generated automatically from limited information: a few public pages of a store, or your own answers to a self-check. They can be wrong or incomplete. A check can’t see inside your Google Merchant Center account, your accounting records or your customs data.
- A clean result doesn’t mean Google will approve your products, that your books are right, or that you are charging the right duties or taxes.
- A flagged issue may not be a real problem for your business.
- Any figures are estimates based on the assumptions we show.
Results are general information. They are not legal, tax, accounting or customs advice, and they are not advice from Google or Intuit, or on their behalf. We don’t promise any outcome, such as a reinstated account or an approved product. You decide what to do with a result, and you should check with a qualified adviser or the platform concerned before relying on it.
No affiliation
The tools are independent. They are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Google, Intuit, Shopify, the European Union or any customs or tax authority, and we don’t speak for any of them. Wield’s agency work may include partner programmes run by some of these companies, but that gives the tools no special status or access. Product and company names belong to their owners, and we use them only to describe what the tools check.
Acceptable use
- Only check stores you own or are authorised to check.
- Use the tools through the forms on this site. Don’t call our API directly, or run checks or signups with scripts, bots or in bulk.
- Don’t try to get around our rate limits, bot check or other safeguards.
- Don’t use the tools to attack, overload or probe any website or network, including ours, or to try to reach addresses that aren’t public.
- Don’t sign anyone up without their permission.
- Don’t use the tools for anything unlawful.
We limit how many checks and signups can come from one address, and we may block any use that we think breaks these rules. You are responsible for what you submit, and for any loss or claim caused by breaking these rules, including a complaint from the owner of a store you weren’t authorised to check.
What the checks read
Storefront checks and scanners only read what is already public. When you submit an address, our checker visits that site as an ordinary visitor would, and identifies itself as WieldAppsChecker. For the Merchant Center Fix check, that means the home page, up to three product pages, robots.txt, the sitemap, and any public shipping, returns, contact, privacy and terms pages.
The checker doesn’t log in, ask for passwords, submit forms, place orders or change anything on the store. It refuses private or internal addresses, and it limits how much it reads and for how long. Any other free scanner we publish works the same way, reading public pages and public catalogue data, and its page says what it looks at.
Self-checks run in your browser. They don’t connect to your store or accounting system.
What we store
- Each check: the store’s host name (not the full address you typed), the outcome, the results, the platform we detected, the number of pages read and the time taken.
- Each finished self-check: the score, not your answers.
- Each early-access signup: your email address, the store URL and platform you gave, the product, the page you signed up on and the page that sent you there, plus any check result or self-check answers from that visit. We also record when you confirm.
- With all of these: a salted one-way hash of your IP address (not the address itself), and any campaign tags and ad click IDs in the link you arrived from.
We keep this in a Google Cloud database in the EU and use it to run and improve the tools, measure our advertising and contact you about early access. We use service providers to run the tools, and they process data such as your IP address to do so: Google Cloud (the API and database), Cloudflare (hosting, bot check and cookieless analytics), Mailgun (email) and MyFonts (a page-view count for our font licence).
Our privacy policy also applies. Where it differs from this section, this section describes what these tools do.
Early-access lists
Our lists use double opt-in. When you sign up, we email you a confirmation link that works for 7 days. You join the list only after you click it. If you don’t, we won’t email you about it again.
Once you’ve confirmed, we’ll email you when your spot opens, and after that only with product updates. To leave the list at any time, reply to one of our emails or write to hi@wield.io.
Joining is free and doesn’t commit you to buying anything. It also doesn’t commit us to launching an app, on any date or at any price. The details of any early-access offer shown on a signup form, such as a founding price, will be set out in the paid app’s terms when it launches.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for lost sales, profits, data or ad spend, suspended accounts, penalties, duties or taxes, arising from your use of the tools or their results, or from not being able to use them.
To the extent the law allows, our total liability for all claims relating to the tools is limited to US$100.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t legally be limited, such as liability for fraud, or takes away rights you have under mandatory law.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. When we do, we’ll update them on this page and change the date at the top. The new terms apply to any use after that date. If you don’t accept them, please stop using the tools.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Hampshire, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. The state and federal courts located in New Hampshire have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute about them, unless mandatory law gives you the right to go to court elsewhere.
If any part of these terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies.
